DONE DEAL: Schweinsteiger receives visa to complete Man Utd to Chicago Fire move

Manchester United has confirmed the transfer of Bastian Schweinsteiger to Chicago Fire.

The German midfielder has joined the MLS club on a permanent basis after passing a medical and obtaining his visa to play in North America.

Schweinsteiger, 32, has also had all of the necessary paperwork finalised and is now free to make his Fire debut.

It is understood that the former Bayern Munich and Germany star could be in line to face the Montreal Impact on the weekend.

Part of a Man Utd statement read: "Bastian Schweinsteiger has completed his move from Manchester United to Chicago Fire.

"Everybody at United would like to wish Basti the very best of luck in the next chapter of his career."
