DONE DEAL: Robert Green stunned by 'whirlwind' Chelsea move

Chelsea have completed the signing of former England goalkeeper Robert Green.

Green joins from Huddersfield Town where he spent a year as cover without making a single first-team appearance.

The former England international had considered hanging up his gloves after being released by the Terriers.

However, Chelsea's offer was too good for him to refuse.

"It has been a whirlwind 24 hours," said Green. "You are thinking about your career and where you want to go and then you get a phone call like this, and it is a short conversation.

"It has been a pretty dramatic time for me and I can't wait to get started. I am absolutely delighted and it is a thrill and an honour to be here."

The 38-year-old will sign for a season while Eduardo and Jamal Blackman are out on loan.
