Newcastle United have signed Jonjo Shelvey from Swansea City.
The 23-year-old midfielder was unveiled at St James' Park prior to Tuesday night's clash with Manchester United after signing a five-and-a-half-year deal with the Magpies.
Shelvey departs Swansea for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £12million having spent the past two-and-a-half seasons in South Wales.
Of the much talked about move finally being completed, Shelvey told the club's official website: “I'm very excited to be here. I'm so glad that it's finally done.
“I drove up through the night to be here so it's been a manic 24 hours but it's all been worth it to come here and play for this great club."
Shelvey started his career with Charlton Athletic, where he made his debut as a 16-year-old, before moving to Liverpool in 2010 and then onto Swansea in 2013.
The six-time England international follows Henri Saivet to the north east after the Toon captured Senegal midfielder from Bordeaux on Monday.
