Hellas Verona defender Martin Caceres is close to joining Lazio.

The Uruguay stopper signed for Verona last summer from Southampton and has been outstanding so far this season.

Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports Verona's match with Napoli next Saturday will be his final game, with Caceres completing a move to the Stadio Olimpico immediately afterwards.

It is believed that the deal was agreed between the clubs as early as last summer, with Lazio Coach Simone Inzaghi adding in recent days that the former Juventus man 'could help' his side.

Official confirmation of the transfer seems a formality, with Caceres set to have a €5m release clause inserted into his Biancocelesti contract.
