DONE DEAL: Huddersfield sign Sheffield Utd defender Richard Stearman

Former Sheffield United defender Richard Stearman has joined Huddersfield Town after being released by mutual consent by the Blades.

Centre-back Stearman, 32, joins the Terriers on an an initial 18-month deal until summer 2021.

"Richard brings experience and leadership qualities that will definitely add to our dressing room," boss Danny Cowley said.

Huddersfield have also brought in Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe on loan until the end of the season.

Stearman has been limited to just three appearances for Sheffield United this season, the last of which came in their 2-1 FA Cup third round win against AFC Fylde.

But the former Wolves and Leicester defender joins Huddersfield with more than 500 appearances to his name and a Championship promotion under his belt from last season.

"Richard was a key component of creating an outstanding culture at Sheffield United and he'll provide a fantastic example for our young professionals day in and day out," Cowley added.
