Gregory van der Wiel has signed for Cagliari.

The Dutchman has joined the Sardinians from Fenerbahce.

“Cagliari Calcio announce the signing of Gregory van der Wiel," a statement on the Rossoblu's website reads.

“The Dutch player arrives from Fenerbahce and has agreed a three-year contract with the club.

“With van der Wiel, the first Dutch player in the history of the club, Cagliari Calcio acquire a first class international player with a strong personality.

“A right back in the great Dutch tradition of the role, he is good at defending, with an outstanding running ability, incessant stamina and is good at putting himself into the open spaces to make assists for the forwards.
