DONE DEAL: Fleetwood boss Barton welcomes Burnley striker Fowler

Former Burnley striker Michael Fowler has signed for Fleetwood Town after ending his Turf Moor stay.

Fowler was due to leave the Clarets' Academy in the summer after reaching the end of his two-year scholarship.

But after being offered a two-and-a-half-year professional deal by Fleetwood, the 17-year-old has been allowed to leave to kick-start his career with the League One club.

Fleetwood head coach and former Clarets midfielder Joey Barton said: "A lot of clubs in our division were interested in signing Michael, so we're really pleased that we've managed to get this deal over the line.

“He's an exciting young striker who loves to score goals, and we're looking forward to watching his development continue with us."
