Chelsea midfielder Kasey Palmer is close to joining Blackburn on loan for the 2018/19 season.

Sky Sports claim the deal will be sealed early next week.

Palmer was expected to re-join Derby County, where he spent the second half of last season on loan, to work under Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.

But he will now play under Tony Mowbray in Blackburn's first season back in the Championship.

The 21-year-old has experience in the English second-flight. He was a part of the Huddersfield Town squad that won the 2016/17 play-offs.
