Tommy Elphick has left Bournemouth to join Aston Villa.
The 28-year-old defender has signed a three-year deal with the West Midlands club for a reported fee of £3million and was over the moon to commit himself to the cause despite a season in the Championship ahead.
“I'm absolutely delighted," he told AVTV.
“It didn't actually take too long. As soon as I heard of Villa's interest attuned my head straight away
“To be able to come here and represent such a fabulous club with such great history is going to be a real honour for me.
“As soon as you hear the name, obviously there has been not such good times recently, but you have seen what they have done over the summer with the new owner, the new manager, it didn't take too much convincing at all."
Elphick, who spent the past four seasons with Bournemouth, also revealed the cut short his honeymoon in order to get the deal done with Villa.
“I had five days left but my wife is very understanding in terms of football," he added.
“It's obviously what gives us our living and when a club comes calling like Villa, the least you can do is give up five days of your honeymoon."
Now for the next one
