Atletico Madrid have announced the departure of Gelson Martins to AS Monaco.

The Portugal winger moves to Monaco on-loan to the end of the season, which was confirmed by Atletico today in a statement.

"Our club has reached an agreement with AS Monaco for the transfer of Gelson Martins until the end of this season. The Portuguese footballer, who joined our team last summer, has played a total of 12 games with the 'rojiblanca' shirt. (eight with LaLiga, two in the Champions League and two in the Copa del Rey).

"The Portuguese striker has played a total of 12 games defending our shirt since he arrived in the past summer market.

"The footballer now faces a new challenge in his professional career, for which we wish him good luck from Atlético de Madrid."
