Championship outfit Doncaster Rovers are in crisis after chairman John Ryan resigned yesterday.
The Daily Star Sunday says Ryan dramatically quit at half-time after a boardroom battle.
He walked out of the directors' box at Barnsley and went to sit with the 2,000 travelling fans as they serenaded him with: "There's only one John Ryan."
Ryan said: "It's sad but it was an incredible send-off by the fans, the best anyone could have. It brought a tear to my eye and I wanted to be with fans because that's where I started.
"As a football club I wanted to have a go at the upper echelons of the Championship and maybe even the Premier League. As a chairman for 15 years I've had four promotions and two cups and anybody would be proud of that."
