Doncaster chairman Ryan officially ends McKay experiment

Doncaster Rovers chairman John Ryan says the Willie McKay experiment is officially over after relegation to League One.

Long-serving winger James Coppinger has hinted the influx of players created a division in the playing squad and did little to help the dressing room harmony.

"Willie McKay loves the club and offered his support to try and help keep us in the division," Ryan told the club's official website.

"Unfortunately, and with no blame attributed to Willy, that didn't happen.

"So now being back in League One gives us the opportunity to go back to a more traditional transfer policy.

"We are now looking to rebuild the squad, aiming to keep the players we can afford, to develop from our successful youth team and look to use players who can be the future of the club for years to come."
