Ekdal came up against Haaland as Sweden battled Norway home and away in the Nations League.
He told Sportbladet: "It is probably he and a couple of strikers in the world who take that run (at 1-0) and step forward in front and even get it in from that angle. It was damn tough. It felt like I was in control of it. But that's probably the case when you meet players you have never met before.
"With all due respect, you have to say that there is a big difference from the Allsvenskan. He is the world's best forward, you can at least argue for that. It was noticed that you met such a skilled player, you could say. But you always learn by mistake and I feel that I get stronger from that match."
