Dithering Arsenal moved too late to beat Tottenham for Friedel

Arsenal ARE in the market for a new goalkeeper.

The Daily Mail says Arsenal were foiled in a last-ditch plot to hijack Tottenham's swoop for veteran goalkeeper Brad Friedel.

The news leaves Wojciech Szczesny's hopes of establishing himself as the club's first choice goalkeeper in the balance.

Manager Arsene Wenger was keen on Friedel and was ready to offer him a two-year contract.

But as Arsenal prepared to make their move, it was indicated to them that Friedel's move to White Hart Lane was too far down the line to stop, ending the Gunners hopes.
