Former Manchester City striker Ched Evans is being likened to Alan Shearer at Sheffield United.

The striker, 20, has only hit three goals since joining Sheffield United for £3million from Manchester City - with the last one coming eight games ago.

But Blades boss Kevin Blackwell says it is money well spent, adding: "My coach Gary Speed played with Shearer and says Ched reminds him of 'Big Al'.

"You need only look at Ched's pace off the mark and the way he strikes and holds up the ball to see the similarities."
