Diao had message for Stoke boo-boys

Stoke City midfielder Salif Diao admits the boo-boys have been getting to him this season.

After scoring in the win over Portsmouth, he produced a finger-to-the-lips gesture to a small section of the travelling fans.

He said the gesture was by no means a dig at all the Stoke supporters, but hoped his goal had silenced some vociferous critics.

Diao told The Sentinel: "Lately, I have had some criticism. If I miss a pass I get moaned at, so it was just a message.

"But it was a great feeling to score for them, because the fans never let the team down.

"Even when we have been losing, they have always been behind the team."
