Roberto di Matteo is returning to Chelsea as Andre Villas-Boas' assistant manager.
The Daily Mail says Villas-Boas will unveil his backroom team today with Di Matteo primed for an emotional return to Chelsea as assistant to the new manager.
Di Matteo spent six years as a hugely popular midfielder at Stamford Bridge, scoring in two FA Cup finals before he was forced to retire 10 years ago after breaking his leg.
The 41-year-old has been out of work since he was sacked as manager of West Bromwich Albion in January and missed out on a comeback when he was pipped to the Birmingham City job by Chris Hughton earlier this month.
