Di Maria will show his true colours – Man Utd hero Crerand

Former Manchester United star Paddy Crerand believes that club-record signing Angel Di Maria will come good next season.

Di Maria arrived at United from Real Madrid for £59.7million last summer but failed to live up to expectations.

The Argentine winger, who is being linked with French giants Paris Saint-Germain, was not able to justify his enormous price tag and his debut season was plagued with inconsistent performances.

As a result, there have been murmurs that United could consider cutting their losses on Di Maria by selling him this summer.

However, United legend Paddy Crerand believes that Di Maria is a far better player than he showed last season and expects him to return to his best during the upcoming campaign.

Crerand told the Manchester Evening News: "You look at Di Maria. That's not the Di Maria, the one we saw last year.

"He's a far better player than that. Maybe the experience of playing here for that year will help him this coming year. The sad thing is he's got injured at the wrong time."
