Angel di Maria apologised to Juventus fans after defeat to Monza.

Di Maria was sent off as Monza stunned Juve 1-0 on Sunday.

The Argentina winger later posted to social media: "I want to apologise to everyone for this inappropriate reaction I had on the field.

"Leaving the team with one less in such a difficult moment of the championship made us lose the game. Losing is only my fault. I'm so sorry.

"I am a professional but also a human being who makes mistakes and knows how to recognise them."

Meanwhile, Di Maria's wife later defended her husband.

Jorgelina Cardoso posted: " Making mistakes is everyone's fault, accepting the mistake and apologizing is a virtue of a few ... ".
