Paolo Di Canio and Neil Lennon have applied for the vacant manager's position at ChampionshipBolton Wanderers following the departure of Dougie Freedman. The two former Celtic players, are among over 20 coaches who have registered their interest in the Trotters job.
Jimmy Phillips, Bolton's Academy coach and former player, and Southend United boss Phil Brown, another ex-Bolton player and one-time assistant to Sam Allardyce, are among the early favourites to fill the vacancy.
Brown fits the criteria of a manager with Championship experience and a Bolton background but claimed on Tuesday that there has been no approach from his former club.
"There is always going to be speculation about myself and Bolton, whenever the job comes up. I had 15-odd years there as a player and coach. We had some great times under Sam Allardyce. I've had no contact with Bolton Wanderers officially, though."
