Di Canio: Juventus can surprise wounded Chelsea

Lazio hero Paolo di Canio is adamant Juventus can defeat Champions League opponents Chelsea.

Juve meet Chelsea as underdogs tonight. The Bianconeri will face the European champions on the back of three wins in the last four games, with a draw at home to AC Milan breaking up the run. The Bianconeri won their first group game at Malmo 3-0.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are in Turin on the back of Saturday's surprise 1-0 defeat at home to Manchester City. They won their opening Champions League group game against Zenit St Petersburg.

And Di Canio, now 53 years of age, told Tuttosport via TMW: "Juve will find a Chelsea wounded by the knockout against Man City, but no less aware of it's own strength.

"For the Bianconeri it will be tough but for the Blues it will not be easy as Juve is regaining consistency.

"They can achieve results and even a draw could be good because it would put pressure on the English. Scudetto? It is not the Juve of the 2015-2016 comeback. There aren't those qualities. It will be tough."

Di Canio spent three years with Juve during his playing career. He was part of the Juve team which won the 1993 UEFA Cup. The former striker now works as a pundit on Italian television.
