Shaun Derry says he and QPR teammate Clint Hill can help keep the club up.
The veteran pair have been ever-presents in Harry Redknapp's line-up.
"You can draw on your own experiences and me and Clint have been in relegation fights before, right to the last minute," Derry told the London Evening Standard.
"I remember being in this position with QPR last year and who would have thought we would have beaten the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham at home? I remember us being at Palace and it went right down to the wire, too. It's about keeping your nerve.
"We're going to have to pull something special out of the bag because Christmas has gone, we're into the new year and games are running out. We are five points adrift, that is the reality now and it is time we put a run of results together."
