Derek Ferguson is confident brother Barry will return to play for Scotland.
The Birmingham City midfielder has hinted he is set to come out of the international wilderness.
Former Sunderland star Derek told the Scottish Sun: "It's not just about Barry. It's his team-mates, it's his pals that are out there.
"If he can somehow help them, whether he plays or not, but by being back in the squad, I think that's what Barry wants deep down.
"Craig Levein has been absolutely brilliant with him. Barry doesn't just respect Craig - he likes him as a guy. I think that's why he'd LOVE to get back and play.
"I know people are saying 'well, what's he waiting on' but he had a problem with his ankle where he had major surgery and they were wanting to look at that to see how it was. That's fine.
"There was the issue with the family with them still living up here. I think he now realises that yes, it's great to spend time with the family but deep down he also wants to represent his country.
"I also think he's waiting for the okay from Alex McLeish."
