Derby County are seeking to sign Chelsea youngster Tariq Uwakwe.

The Championship side are hoping to add Uwakwe on a loan deal for the rest of the season, per The Sun.

The 20-year-old has two and a half years remaining on his deal with the Blues, which he signed in the summer.

He hopes to be in first team contention, but a loan move to a Championship club may be what he needs to kick start his career.

The midfielder would provide Derby with much needed enthusiasm and quality in the centre of the park.

If he went to Derby, he would play with England legend Wayne Rooney, who also joined the club this month.
