Derby standing by Rooney

Derby County are standing by manager Wayne Rooney.

The Rams will not dismiss Rooney as manager after he held talks with club owner Mel Morris.

The club had been left angered after photos of the Rams boss asleep in a hotel room with women posing alongside him went viral earlier this week.

Morris and the club's owners are said to have been angered by the fallout from the photos - which Rooney contacted the police over - although there has been no indication of the former Manchester United and England forward indulging any inappropriate behaviour.

Rooney had informed Derby of the photos soon after they went viral, with the club issuing a statement on Tuesday.

The statement read: "Wayne Rooney informed the club that the pictures had emerged and that they had been taken without his knowledge or approval.."
