Derby sign permanently Stoke fullback Shotton

Derby County have signed permanently Stoke City defender Ryan Shotton.

The Sentinel says Shotton has completed his permanent move to Derby County for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old has been on loan at the Championship high-fliers since August, but has now signed a two-and-a-half year deal with Steve McClaren's side.

Shotton, who can operate at right-back or in midfield, has made 14 appearances for the Rams since dropping down a division.

McClaren said: "We're pleased to welcome Ryan to the club on a permanent basis.

"He has shown in his brief time wit us that he is an important member of the squad, contributing with good performances and showing his versatility."
