Derby County defender Andre Wisdom after being victim of a violent robbery in Liverpool.

Former Liverpool fullback Wisdom was hospitalised on Monday after being stabbed and robbed during what has been described as an "unprovoked assault" in Liverpool.

The Derby defender is reported to have been attacked while visiting a relative in the Toxteth area of Merseyside.

The Sun reports the 27-year-old, who came through the academy ranks at Liverpool, was stabbed while getting out of his car.

His sister told the newspaper: "He's been stabbed and is in hospital. He's stable and my other brother is on his way there. It's crazy. I can't believe it."

Derby confirmed the incident had taken place and said: "Andre Wisdom has been the victim of an unprovoked assault and robbery. He sustained injuries which resulted in him being admitted to hospital."
