Tottenham midfielder Hossam Ghaly has joined Derby County on loan.

The Egyptian international will stay at the Rams until the end of the season to help Paul Jewell's side in their efforts to avoid relegation.

The 26-year-old has not featured for the Spurs first team at all this season under manager Juande Ramos or previous head coach Martin Jol, having made the last of his 34 appearances for the north London club in the 1-1 draw with Blackburn at White Hart Lane in May 2007.

In that match, Ghaly responded to being substituted off after himself coming on as a first-half replacement by removing his shirt and throwing it at Jol, much to the displeasure of the home crowd.

Ghaly is available for selection for the match against Wigan on Saturday after receiving international clearance.
