Derby County boss Paul Jewell is delighted with the addition of former Everton talent spotter Phil Cannon to his staff.

"I have been aware of Phil's skills for a while and he has some really good contacts with the top clubs at home and abroad," said Jewell.

"He will be academy manager but will lean heavily on the side of recruitment and I think that is all-important. Being aware of the right players both close to home, as in Derby, and abroad is crucial.

"Phil has a real good eye for recruiting players."
