Outgoing Australia coach Pim Verbeek admitted he was disappointed after he failed to guide his side to the final 16 of the 2010 World Cup. The Dutchman, who has now coached his last Socceroos game, was extremely proud of his players after their 2-1 win over Serbia but could not hide the disappointment.
"It was a great result and a great performance but we are not in the final 16 and that is disappointing," he said.
"We came to South Africa to get to the final 16 and it didn't work out that way.
"I don't think we can blame the players. They did a great job and have worked very hard.
"I think we are all disappointed because four points four years ago was enough. This time it isn't."
