Dendoncker delighted to prove Wolves matchwinner

Wolves matchwinner Leander Dendoncker was delighted with victory over Fulham.

The midfielder volleyed home the winner from a Matt Doherty cross to earn Wolves three hard-earned points against the Cottagers, to put themselves in the driving seat for seventh spot - and Europa League qualification.

Dendoncker told the club's website: "Personally, I was happy to score. I was close a few times the last few games and I wanted to score. It was a great assist too. I was close in the first-half with the header, so I was glad to finally score.

“I felt bad after the semi-final of the FA Cup, because I made the foul on Deeney, I felt guilty for that, so I was happy I could give something back. Now I hope we can finish seventh and quality for Europe.

“Diogo (Jota) had a couple of chances, so I think we deserved the win. Fulham played a great game, they are a good team, but we deserved the win."

On the race for seventh and Europa League qualification, he added: “We want it a lot. Until now, we've gone game by game because the teams behind us are all close, but today was very important to maintain seventh and we did well. I hope after the win we can stay there and I'm happy.

“It'd be a great accomplishment, we've done very well over the season, some good moments and bad moments, but especially good moments. If we can finish seventh in our first season in the Premier League, it's not too bad."
