Belgium national team manager Marc Wilmots believes Jason Denayer can assume the mantle from Vincent Kompany.
The 20-year-old defender, who spent the season on loan with Turkish giants Galatasaray, is an apt replacement for injured Manchester City skipper Kompany according to the Rode Duivels boss.
"Vincent and Thomas (Vermaelen) are prone to injury. We therefore looked at young players with an interesting profile," he said.
"That's why I brought Jason Denayer with us - he has the best profile to replace Vincent Kompany. He is fast and allows the team to play and press."
Denayer is expected to feature in Belgium's friendly with Switzerland this weekend as Wilmots continues to prepare his side for Euro2016 where they take on Italy, Republic of Ireland and Sweden in France.
