Clint Dempsey was pleased with his brace in Tottenham's FA Cup win over Coventry City.

Back in the starting XI, the former Fulham forward staked his claim with goals either side of Gareth Bale's close-range volley.

"When you get your chances to play you have to show you deserve to be out there," conceded Dempsey.

"Everyone wants to make those moments count and it shows the quality we have and the competition for places. It's great to be part of this team in this period and it's about doing something special this year."
