Delaney hails BVB teammate Sancho: Clearly a great player

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Thomas Delaney is full of praise for young teammate Jadon Sancho.

The 18-year-old former Manchester City trainee made his international debut as a substitute during England's behind-closed-doors Nations League game against Croatia last month.

"You can see straight away that he is a great player," Delaney told reporters after arriving at Denmark's training base in Newport ahead of Friday's Nations League appointment with Wales.

"He plays with a lot of joy - he is a very positive player.

"He doesn't see boundaries, he sees opportunities, and you see that in his style of play. He is always seeking a challenge, always a one versus one or one versus two.

"I am sure he will be a bright star in the future.

"He is very relaxed as a person. There is big pressure at a club like Dortmund, but maybe he has come at the right moment where maybe there is not that expectation to win a trophy, but to build the team.

"From my own experience, a national team is a little bit different than playing league football, but he is performing at Dortmund, and that gives you every tool in the box to perform at international level.

"He is 18 years old, and it's crazy to say that you expect so much of him to perform in the national team, but I am sure he will. If not now, then later, because he is such a big talent."
