Degryse convinced Man City job waiting for Anderlecht coach Kompany

Former Belgium striker Marc Degryse believes the Manchester City job is waiting for Vincent Kompany.

The City great is beginning to turn results around in his second season in charge of Anderlecht.

After a battling first campaign and a difficult opening few months this term, Kompany has overseen a revival at Anderlecht. The Belgian giants sit fifth on the Jupiler League table, six points behind second place Genk - this despite defeat on the weekend against Leuven.

And after many questioned whether Kompany would last the season in charge, the former City captain is now winning greater and greater praise from his peers in the media.

Degryse told Het Laatste Nieuws via Voetbal24: "But indeed, without his beginner mistakes the process could have gone even faster.

"And if he becomes champion with Anderlecht, the door will immediately open at Manchester City.

"(Pep) Guardiola will not stay there forever, hey?"

Before the Leuven setback, Kompany had seen Anderlecht win three of their last four games as things managed to finally click for the rookie coach.

Meanwhile, having had six years with Anderlecht, former Belgium striker Degryse, himself, also has past experience in England where he played a year with Sheffield Wednesday.
