Former Belgium striker Marc Degryse says Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen still has plenty to offer.

Off contract in June, Vertonghen has been linked with a return to former club Ajax.

And Degryse told HLN: “Vertonghen is currently having a hard time, but a new start at a new club - who knows Anderlecht, or Ajax - can do him good."

Degryse also insists Spurs manager Jose Mourinho isn't to blame for the Belgian's decline.

“Don't forget that he also had some problems with (Mauricio) Pochettino. That's Vertonghen - if he's not having a good time, he can't put it away. But with a new dynamic after a transfer, I believe that our Jan will be fine."
