Jermain Defoe will make his first competitive start for Bournemouth in Tuesday's EFL Cup second round tie at Birmingham City.
The 34 year old has started on the substitutes bench for the first two Premier League games of the season.
"I want to see other players in our squad. Jermain will start," said Cherries boss Eddie Howe.
