Deeney offers assurances to Watford fans

Watford captain Troy Deeney won't demand a transfer following their relegation.

The Hornets' five-year stay in the Premier League was ended this season after they were beaten by Arsenal on the final day of the campaign.

Deeney, who underwent knee surgery after the season finished, has been at Watford for 10 years after joining from Walsall for around £500,000.

“This is my club, I've been there 10 years now," Deeney told talkSPORT. “I am not going to actively look to leave or anything of that nature.

“I was talking to the missus about it yesterday, I had an opportunity to go to Leicester when they had just won the [Premier] League. Obviously it was Champions League football.

“I never asked to leave then. So why would I ask to leave now? Do you know what I mean?

“If the club decide that we need to go our separate ways, it is what it is. I am a big boy. I can take it on the chin."
