Deco is now convinced, after an uncertain period, he made the right decision to stay at Chelsea. After a bright start to his Stamford Bridge career, Deco soon found himself sidelined through a mixture of injuries and loss of form.
He said: "Last season was the worst of my career because I never had so many injuries before. When you are not in the side you think about things like leaving because of what might happen the following season.
"This season things are different. I know I am well and fit and I can play. I want to help the team and I think Carlo Ancelotti trusts me.
The Portuguese international added: "When he arrived we spoke and he told me he wanted me to stay. I needed that. I now enjoy the decision to stay. I have a contract and they respect me here - the fans, the people in the club and the new coach.
"I had offers but I never said that I wanted to go. The coach said he wanted to keep me in the squad. I said okay, I want to stay."
