Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong believes Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt will eventually join him at the Nou Camp.

De Ligt turned down Barcelona in the summer as he opted for Juventus, but Frenkie de Jong believes that his former Ajax teammate could join the Blaugrana in the near future.

"De Ligt can play for Barcelona in the near future," De Jong told De Telegraaf.

"Going to Italy does not alter the fact that he can play for Barcelona in a few years' time.

"He has made the right decision; he is doing well in Turin."

De Jong has become a mainstay in Barcelona's midfield after his arrival in the summer and he is confident that he has managed to adapt to his new team.

"[My adaptation] in two words: almost perfect," he added.

"If you look back, it has been a crazy year, yes.

"The football and human balance are also very good, although at the same time they can be improved.

"I have been here for almost half a year and my participation in terms of minutes is excellent.

"I have been able to play a lot and I am very happy with that.

"I enjoy every day and every moment as a midfielder.

"Every time I go to training, I feel comfortable. Everything at Barcelona is really great."
