David De Gea blasted Manchester United teammates after their dismal 1-0 defeat at Newcastle United.
United sunk to 12th in the league, two points from the bottom three after a 1-0 loss at St James' Park.
De Gea urged his team-mates to “step up" as they host Liverpool in two weeks time in what could decide manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's fate.
He told Sky Sports: "We didn't create any proper chances. We defended well.
"The team needs to step up. We have some big injuries but that's no excuse.
“We are Manchester United, we need to keep training hard, fighting and winning games."
Asked what needs improving, the keeper said: "Everything. A lot of things to improve.
“I don't know what to say. Keep trying, fighting, improving every day. It's a hard moment for us.
"The most difficult time since I've been here. I don't know why, what is happening. Sorry to the fans. We will keep fighting.
"Come on, we conceded a goal from a corner. That cannot happen. It's unacceptable."
