The City manager wanted to rest his players who are not involved with their national teams this week.

Guardiola wants his players refreshed for what will be a brutal return to action next month.

The Sky Blues are still competing on three fronts and will kick off the pointy end of the season with an away trip to Burnley on April 2.

City then face a Champions League quarter-final against Atletico Madrid, both legs of which are followed by clashes with rivals Liverpool in the Premier League and FA Cup semi-finals.
