Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan controls the tempo for his side in a similar vein to David Silva.

The German midfielder has earned significant praise for his performances from one of his teammates.

Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne was effusive in his praise of Gundgan, as they prepare for the resumption of the Premier League season.

“He is a very good trainer," De Bruyne said of Gundogan, per the Manchester Evening News.

"He is somebody who understands and controls the game of football, similar to what David Silva did. Ilkay is great.

"He is a good teammate, a very nice guy, a very humble guy and I have played with him for seven years. We have very good memories together and I have a very good relationship with him."
