DC United return to WJLA for TV rights deal

DC United have signed a local TV rights deal with US media company Sinclair Broadcast Group (SBG) to carry the franchise's games on cable news channel WJLA for the upcoming 2020 season, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

Under the terms of the partnership, WJLA will air every DC United match not televised by the league's national rights-holders ESPN, Fox Sports, and Univision. The agreement kicks off with the club's opening 2020 season match against Colorado on 29th February.

According to the Washington Post, the franchise had initially held talks with the NBC Sports Washington (NBCSW) network before turning their attention to Sinclair.

WJLA returns as DC United's regional broadcaster having previously held an exclusive rights deal with the club for three seasons between 2016 and 2018. The network is available via Comcast and DirecTV channels, as well as the Dish Network, FiOS, Open Band, RCN and US Capitol.

Every broadcast will include a pre and post-game show in addition to providing ABC7 and WJLA behind-the-scenes access and exclusive interviews with players and coaching staff.
