DC United are in talks with Everton veteran Wayne Rooney.

The Mirror says Rooney is closing on a sensational summer move to Major League Soccer side DC United.

The Everton striker's agent, Paul Stretford, is understood to have held talks with the MLS club, with Rooney poised to join them this summer.

Talks between Rooney's camp and DC United are said to have gone well, with Everton willing to let the 32-year-old leave.

The MLS transfer window opens on July 10, with Rooney ready to take up the challenge of playing abroad for the first time in his career.

DC United tried to sign Rooney when he left Manchester United last summer, but the forward wanted a return to his boyhood club.
