Davis: Southampton can cope if key players leave

Southampton captain Kelvin Davis is not particularly worried about the departure of key players this summer.

The Saints have lost a key player in Nathaniel Clyne following his sale to Liverpool while star midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is expected to join Manchester United in the coming days.

Losing crucial players to bigger clubs seems to be the theme for Southampton every summer but despite some of the club's biggest stars departing on a consistent basis, Davis is not too perturbed due to the strong structure in place at the St. Mary's Stadium.

Davis told the Daily Echo: "Obviously, you don't ever like to see your better players go, but we're a club with that experience as well and we've shown that what we do behind the scenes and what the guys do in the scouting department and what the manager's got up his sleeve has proven last season that we can cope.

"So we like to think that will be the case again this season."
