Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Davies insists Martin Petrov has a big role to play this season.

The Bulgarian's last three appearances have come from the substitutes bench, even though he scored in the 4-2 home win over Tottenham on November 6.

Davies argued all the players will be required during the hectic schedule.

He said: "The manager is doing a fantastic job in keeping everyone happy because there are some ­international players who are on the bench, and others who aren't in the matchday squad.

"He is doing a great job in keeping everyone together because in the coming weeks over the Christmas period everyone is going to be needed."
