Ajax midfielder Edgar Davids admits he's shocked to see former team Tottenham struggling this season.

He told the Daily Mail: "I am very surprised with the players they have. I would have thought they would have been at the very least in the top six by now. They are a very talented side. But if you have all that talent then you have to perform. Perhaps the structure at the club was not right. But if the team has this ability and is not performing, the first area you are going to look at correcting is the manager and they have done that.

"When I was there, we were playing European football and finishing fifth in the league. Now, it doesn't look like they'll achieve that league position this season so they have not progressed as they would have hoped. We will have to see what happens from here.

"I am a Spurs fan as well, don't forget. I hope they are going to do well for the rest of the season. The fanbase they have is very loyal and they will always stay right behind their team."
