New York City FC striker David Villa was delighted to see action for Spain in victory over Italy.

La Roja won 3-0 in their World Cup qualifier, with Villa a late subtitute.

The ex-Barcelona striker remarked afterwards: "This feeling is very difficult to describe, I am so happy but I genuinely don't know if I deserve so much affection.

"Spain has played a great game so everybody is happy, this was a key match in terms of qualification and it makes me very happy that I've been trusted for such an occasion."
