David Luiz has emerged as a surprise candidate for the Chelsea captaincy.
According to The Sun, Luiz could be handed the role by Blues boss Antonio Conte, who is looking to replace John Terry.
Terry publicly endorsed Gary Cahill for the position yesterday. Cahill wore the armband for the majority of last season as Terry was confined to the bench for a large portion of Chelsea's matches.
However, Luiz also demonstrated leadership qualities in the Blues title winning campaign, shrugging off early doubts about his attitude.
